ABOUT SHAARE ZEDEK
The Canadian Shaare Zedek Hospital Foundation exists to raise funds for Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem. As Jerusalem’s fastest growing hospital in the region, Shaare Zedek responds to the needs of this uniquely diverse population, treating over 900,000 patients each year, and providing lifesaving and compassionate care. We treat patients of every race, religion, and nationality, by following a patient-centered approach. At its core, Shaare Zedek functions through a strong and diverse heart.
The hospital operates with limited government funding and relies on our donors. With your generous support, we can continue to do what we do best:

WHERE YOUR HELP IS NEEDED
The Huberfeld Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem is Israel’s largest and most advanced NICU. Each year, over 22,000 babies are born at Shaare Zedek—which is 60 new babies brought into the world each day—and approximately 5% of those babies are in need of more intensive medical care that only the NICU can provide. This outstanding number of births is greater than any other hospital in the Western world. The NICU cares for more than 1,000 high-risk infants each year, the facility is designed to meet the highest medical standards in an ultra-modern environment.
Shaare Zedek Medical Center has received over 60 NICU patient transfers from hospitals in the North and South of Israel due to evacuation procedures. All proceeds from Birdies for Babies will go towards supporting the NICU at Shaare Zedek Medical.
